RPHA is a professional organization advancing public health through evidence-based practice, policy advocacy, and professional development
The principles that guide our evidence-based work and long-term impact across Rwanda.
To advance public health in Rwanda through evidence-based practice, policy advocacy, professional development, and community engagement. Evidence. Action. Impact.
A healthy Rwanda where informed public health actions lead to sustainable well-being for all. We envision evidence-based decisions driving action for healthier communities.
The journey of RPHA as Rwanda's leading professional public health organization
RPHA was established by Ministerial Order N°04/08.11 of 09/01/2012 as a professional organization for public health practitioners in Rwanda. Our founding was rooted in recognizing the critical need for a unified platform to advance public health practice and policy in the country.
RPHA is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of all Rwandans by promoting evidence-based public health practices, strengthening health systems, and advocating for access to quality healthcare and a healthy environment for everyone.
We operate on three core principles: Evidence – using research and data to inform public health decisions; Action – translating knowledge into practical interventions; Impact – creating sustainable, measurable improvements in population health.
Today, RPHA is a national platform connecting public health professionals, researchers, students, and institutions. We work across five key pillars: evidence-based research, policy advocacy, capacity building, community health promotion, and strategic partnerships to drive transformative public health impact across Rwanda.

Five strategic pillars that guide our work in advancing public health
We use research and data to inform public health decisions, ensuring our actions are grounded in scientific evidence and best practices.
We engage with policymakers and stakeholders to advocate for evidence-informed health policies that improve population health outcomes.
We invest in professional development and training for public health practitioners to strengthen health systems and workforce capabilities.
We promote community engagement and disease prevention initiatives that address health inequities and improve population well-being.
We collaborate with institutions, organizations, and partners to amplify our impact and create sustainable solutions for public health challenges.
